About Us

Adirondack Dance Academy was formed in 2006 with Kathy Koester as the Artistic Director.  Since dance is a performing art, the focus of the Academy is to provide a quality dance education with performance opportunities through out Clinton, Essex and Franklin Counties.  Located on the beautiful shores of Lake Champlain, the school teaches the principals of the Cecchetti Method of Dance and offers Cecchetti Dance Exams during the year to eligible dancers.   Dancers are encouraged to reach their true potential and are provided with many opportunies to dance through the year.

Zumba Fitness is offered in addition to dance classes along with new offerings this year in Jazz/Modern, Character, Folkloric, Musical Theatre and Hip Hop.

In addition to the Dance Academy, eligible dancers are invited to participate in the Adirondack Liturgical Dance Troupe which dances at community events, assisted living facilites and area churches.  Upon completion of community service hours, dancers may be inducted into the local chapter of The National Honor Society for Dance, local charter held at the studio.

Adirondack Dance Company, a 501C3  not for profit company, produces a large production at least once a year, with other performing opportunities during the year.  Past performances have included:  Degas - the Ballet, Swan Lake-act 2, Cinderella, The Firebird, Alice in Wonderland, Les Patineurs, Beauty and the Beast, Snow White - the Ballet, The Little Mermaid Ballet, The Snow Queen, A Midsummer's Night Dream, The Nightingale's Song, Aladdin, The Little Humpbacked Horse and Hansel & Gretel.

Although associated with Adirondack Dance Academy, the Adirondack Dance Company is a 501C3 not for profit dance company and welcomes all dancers to audition for their productions whether they attend the Academy or not.  Each year in February, auditions are held for the current years production.  All ages and abilities are welcome to audition.

Each production has grown until we generally have 80+ cast members and a production budget of over $20,000.  Most costumes are hand made by our team of seamstresses.  Each year the Company applies for  Grants to help in the production costs.  Each student who auditions is cast into the role that fits their ability and technique.

The Adirondack Liturgical Dance Troupe has a junior and senior level.  The Troupe enhances worship services, performs in community events and assisted living facilities.  Each year the Troupe performs a concert: 12th Night in Plattsburgh, NY and previously in Burlington, VT
